What is sugarcane pulp tableware made of?

When you hold a cup of hot coffee, have you ever thought that the environmentally friendly tableware that carries the drink is quietly changing the earth? In the factory of Qingdao Want Paper Packaging Co., Ltd., a "treasure material" derived from sugarcane is setting off a green revolution in catering packaging.

Sugarcane pulp tableware is mainly made of sugarcane bagasse. Sugarcane pulp tableware is made by a series of processing of the waste fiber (sugarcane bagasse) produced after sugar cane is squeezed. These 100% degradable tableware is made from the "waste" of the sugar industry - sugarcane bagasse! After the sugar cane is squeezed to extract sugar juice, the remaining fiber is converted into flexible sugarcane pulp through a special process. This natural plant fiber has hardness and toughness after high-temperature pressing and molding, and can replace traditional plastics.

Qingdao Want Paper adopts a full-process pollution-free process. The specific production process includes the following steps:

Raw material processing: Sugarcane bagasse is subjected to pulping, cold mold grouting (pulping, slurry suction) molding, hot mold molding and other processes. First, the bagasse is soaked in a hydraulic pulper, broken down after soaking, and then the broken pulp is diluted in a pulping tank, and oil and water repellent agents are added.

‌Forming and shaping‌: The diluted pulp is transported to the forming machine through the pulp supply pipeline, and the water in the pulp is removed by vacuum filtration, so that the fiber is adsorbed on the wire mesh used for forming to form a wet embryo. The wet embryo is then transferred to the hot press shaping machine, dried under high temperature and pressure to form a semi-finished product.

‌Post-processing‌: The hot-pressed tableware is deburred by a laser trimmer, and microorganisms are killed through an ultraviolet sterilization channel. Finally, qualified products are screened and packaged through a visual quality inspection system.

Sugarcane pulp tableware is not only environmentally friendly, but also has high strength and heat resistance. It can withstand high-temperature food at 120°C for 60 minutes without deformation. In addition, the degradation time of sugarcane pulp tableware is short. In a 30°C composting environment, it can be completely decomposed into carbon dioxide, water and humus within 120 days.
